Uthana provides scholarships for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds to be trained
as Primary School teachers in Kolkata, India.
The scholarship pays for the two year undergraduate course which enables students to graduate with a
Trained Teachers Certificate, TTC.
Education is the best future-proofing for poverty.
This programme empowers these young adults
to go forward in the world with better paid professional employment which has the knock-on effect of taking their whole families out from the grip of poverty.
It shows these families the value of education with these young women often sponsoring their own siblings to higher education.
The cost to sponsor a scholarship graduate throughout their two years is approximately AU$2,000 or
as little as $80 per month.
Please help another family enjoy the benefits of education.
Break the cycle of poverty today.
